Laura Carroll Headshot

Looking for a creative approach to therapy? Laura offers music therapy in addition to talk therapy.

  • With a unique blend of therapeutic approaches, I offer compassionate and holistic support as both an accredited music therapist and a registered psychotherapist. Drawing from my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I work with individuals to create meaningful, transformative change in their lives.

I specialize in supporting individuals through challenges in their relationships, managing anxiety and depression, and exploring self-identity. Together, we can engage in an Emotionally Focused Therapy process, and if you’re open to it, you might find value in exploring the creative, non-verbal possibilities of music therapy activities. By cultivating both verbal and non-verbal awareness of your emotional experiences, we can deepen your connection with your inner self, promoting healing, insight, and personal growth.

Whether you're facing difficult transitions, seeking to understand your emotions better, or exploring your authentic self, I am here to support you in a safe, empathic environment. Together, we can work through life's challenges and help you create the life and relationships you desire.

  • I started playing the flute in grade 7 and it has been a constant source of joy ever since. It has always allowed me to express and connect with myself when I play just for me; it has deepened and expanded relationships with my closest friends and family when I play duets or in small groups; and it has provided me a sense of community and belonging when I play in an ensemble.

When I’m not in my therapist role, you’re likely to find me hard at work on my dissertation! I am passionate about learning and personal growth. I love what I do and I’m so curious about how and why therapy works that I went back to school. In my PhD research, I’m exploring how Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques and Music Therapy techniques can be integrated to enhance therapeutic outcomes.

I also love to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea, play board games with my family, and spend time in the great outdoors.

  • Working with me as a therapist means entering a collaborative space where your voice and preferences guide the process. I believe in going at your pace, ensuring that you feel heard, understood, and empowered throughout our work together. You set the direction, and I’m here to support and guide you, adjusting the pace and approach based on what feels most comfortable and effective for you. It’s all about creating a safe, trusting partnership where your growth and healing are the priority.

To best accommodate your needs and level of comfort, I can offer appointments in person, virtually, or a blend of both.
