A Music Therapist’s Guide to Acceptance and Committment Therapy

Are you a music therapist looking to expand your practice and offer more verbal counselling? Learn how to bring Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a third wave cognitive behavioural therapy into your music therapy sessions. This online training covers each of the core processes, providing you with a foundational understanding ACT, and explore how we can meaningfully bring it into our music therapy practice.

Online Training Details

The training consists of 7 online modules that can be completed at your own pace.  The modules include:

  • Foundational knowledge about ACT

  • An in depth overview of each of the core processes involved in ACT.

  • Traditional ACT exercises and interventions

  • Music-centred experiences and interventions

  • Sample group plans, audio recordings, and resources.

It takes approximately 7 hours to complete the training.

The training was developed by Kathleen, a Certified Music Therapist, Registered Psychotherapist, and Clinical Supervisor. Kathleen is passionate about working with music therapists to help build their psychotherapy practice and expand their use of verbal counselling.

With over 5 years of incorporating ACT into her music therapy practice, Kathleen uses music and words flexibly in sessions depending on what her clients need and want.
